A Journey Through Emotional States and Sonic Time

Trānsitiō is an immersive sonic journey that artistically reflects the emotional states we experience throughout the day.

This auditory exploration symbolizes the temporal arc of a day, beginning with the quiet introspection of morning, By midday, the sonic landscape becomes vibrant and dynamic, mirroring clarity and productivity as we engage with daily life.

As evening falls, the focus shifts to rhythmic, communal energy, blending tribal beats and shamanic voices with modern resonances to evoke a trance-like state of connection.

Trānsitiō draws inspiration from Roland Fischer’s seminal work, “A Cartography of the Ecstatic and Meditative States,” which maps human conscious states along two continua: the perception-hallucination continuum, associated with increasing ergotropic arousal, and the perception-meditation continuum, linked to increasing trophotropic arousal.

This evolution from calm introspection to collective rhythm encapsulates the cycle of life, where sound unites and synchronizes our emotions and experiences.

From Live Experience to Personal Listening

Trānsitiō was initially conceived as a commissioned work by Music Wanted Berlin to create a collective sonic experience. Following its debut, it was transformed into an original Flower of Sound production, designed to bring immersive soundscapes to a wider audience.

This work has traveled across Europe, captivating listeners at festivals and events such as the Nameless Festival, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, the Faculty of Creative Business at Utrecht University, and the Music Tech Festival in Milan, LineCheck, where it was performed in the Capsula—a remarkable space featuring over 32 speakers.

These performances showcased the potential of spatial audio to transport audiences into profound emotional states.

Now, Trānsitiō is available for personal use in multiple formats, including binaural audio for headphones and advanced configurations for home theater systems.

With support for Dolby Atmos Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos TrueHD, Trānsitiō delivers an unmatched auditory experience, offering listeners the opportunity to explore tranquility, rhythm, and connection in a deeply immersive way.

What People Say About Trānsitiō

From Dolby Atmos environments to 3D binaural audio in headphones: here’s how our audience experienced Trānsitiō live.

Every aspect of Trānsitiō has been carefully crafted to enhance the listener's experience.

Trānsitiō

The sonic foundation is set at 528 Hz, a frequency chosen for its soothing and harmonious qualities, making the soundscapes deeply enjoyable.

Extensive research went into selecting the timbres and instruments for the rhythmic section, ensuring a seamless and evocative transition.

"As levels of ergotropic and trophotropic arousal rise, perception and behavior increasingly depend on the subcortical substratum. A cat shows rage at ergotropic hyperarousal and falls asleep at trophotropic arousal. Humans, however, may interpret these extreme states as ecstasy and samadhi."

Roland L. Fisher (professor of experimental psychiatry and associate professor of pharmacology)

Inspired by Roland Fischer's Groundbreaking Work

Trānsitiō draws inspiration from Roland Fischer’s seminal work, “A Cartography of the Ecstatic and Meditative States,” which maps human conscious states along two continua:

the perception-hallucination continuum, associated with increasing ergotropic (sympathetic nervous system) arousal, and the perception-meditation continuum, linked to increasing trophotropic (parasympathetic nervous system) arousal.

Fischer’s exploration categorizes states such as normal, creative, psychotic, and ecstatic along the first continuum, and Zazen meditation and samadhi along the second.

These mutually exclusive states are interpreted and measured through variables like EEG readings and eye movement frequencies.

The Sonic Architecture of Trānsitiō

Instruments typically used in sound baths were specially recorded for this project, enriching the ambient layers with authentic and immersive textures.

These recordings provide a realistic and grounding backdrop.

In the rhythmic climax, the inclusion of an original shamanic prayer from South America adds a profound and spiritual dimension, connecting the listener to ancient traditions and communal energy.

From Ecstasy to Trance

“From Ecstasy to Trance” is a series of original concept experiences by Flower of Sound, exploring the connection between sound, spirituality, and healing. Bridging ancient traditions with modern technologies, these artistic representations provide creative insights into sound’s role in well-being across cultures. While not intended for official publications, they offer a unique perspective on the transformative power of immersive audio.

Trānsitiō is the first immersive content in the From Ecstasy to Trance series, setting the foundation for this innovative exploration of sound and consciousness.

"Ethnographic and historical-religious studies have identified a systematic link between trance states and therapeutic-religious rituals in many traditional cultures”

Francesco Giannattasio (Professor of Ethnomusicology)

WHAT is the right AUDIO FORMAT for me?

Compatibility:

Headphones or earbuds (requires a playback device)

Device that supports MP3 or FLAC playback through headphones or earbuds

XR and VR devices that allow local playback of MP3 and FLAC files

For listening our content with headphones or hearables the audio formats are two : FLAC and MP3.

FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) is a compressed audio format that differs from traditional lossy compression methods. Unlike formats like MP3 or AAC, FLAC is a lossless compression, meaning it retains all the original audio data during compression without sacrificing quality. The compression in FLAC is achieved by encoding redundant data more efficiently rather than discarding it.

MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3) format is a widely used audio file format that employs lossy audio compression to reduce the file size while maintaining a good level of sound quality. It was developed by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) and has become the de facto standard for online digital music files.

Compatibility:

Home Theaters (Optimal use case)

Soundbars & Smart Speakers (Check format compatibility)

*Check the device specifications to confirm TrueHD support.

TrueHD with Dolby Atmos requires compatible audio and video devices for full utilization. This includes Blu-ray players, AV receivers, soundbars, and home theater systems that support Dolby Atmos and TrueHD.

Many modern media streamers from popular brands such as Nvidia Tv Shield, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and others often support the “audio passthrough” feature to allow the unaltered transmission of audio to your external audio system.

It is advisable to check the product specifications or device settings to confirm the presence of this function.

Ambisonic format  is commonly used in immersive audio productions, such as 360-degree videos, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR). Its spherical representation offers an engaging and realistic sound experience.

the Ambisonic format is designed to provide a comprehensive and three-dimensional audio representation, making it suitable for a wide range of immersive and professional applications.

Ambisonic orders refer to the number of microphone capsules in a spherical array used to capture three-dimensional audio. Increasing the order adds more capsules, enhancing precision in spatial audio recording.

For our content, we use both first-order and third-order ambisonics, depending on various factors such as the intended level of spatial accuracy, the playback environment, and the specific requirements of each project.
